Impact of Technology in 2070

If you were born in the late seventy and you think you have seen it all. Then think again. When watching fiction movies about robots and digital screens, the progress of technology is making everything possible. Have you ever watched the “Person of Interest” series, when a machine predicts a crime according to some mysterious details and tries to save the victim's life? I did, I watched every single episode of the person of interest.

Then, a few years back, the Chinese government start using a camera with facial recognition to detect any suspicious activity and make an arrest before the crime is committed. Well, there is something called artificial intelligence, and it is now used to predict crimes. The use of mathematical models borrowed from epidemiology and algorithm will help the police department determine when and where to deploy officers to a predicted crime scene. The purpose of the predictive policing is to move from what happened to what will happen and how to stop it. Where the software was used, the crime rate decrease.

In the years to come people will be willing to give up some of their rights and privacy for their safety and peace of mind. The algorithm will be widely used and with more data collected and more invention, the police may be able to make an arrest of suspects before committing the crime and use the digital forensic to trial them. The police may also use a drone in life-threatening situations instead of policemen. “The innovations that are shaping the future of law enforcement begin with emerging technology that supports new concepts of operations, enabling the intervention and relationships that keep society safe.”
